"It's gonna be hot out today!" cried our early bird, "and hot out yesterday!" followed the answer. The hot sun improved our spirits and we happily started cycling, energetic and optimistic because of the nice weather. It's small things really that can make our day. After some twenty kilometers the cavalry got split up again, Yuri and Stef riding ahead of the others. A truck drove passed and his tire exploded, only fifty meters in front of the two friends. We were lucky he was already passed us, as the noise was insane and we saw pieces of tire flying around in the distance. Around midday Anton's rear tire needed to be replaced, and after an intensive ten minutes of pumping we concluded our bicycle pump is reaching the end of its lifespan. It survived for a long time though; the Road Morph was a good buy. For support during the heavy pumping process, a random local pulled over and handled over a watermelon, which we saved for later. After the flat tyre incident, Oli and Stef felt powerful and decided to put their energy to use, as they took of at high pace towards Nisjapoor. The wind turned and gave us an extra push to reach our destination early today, so we could enjoy the watermelon in the evening sun for some time and we listened to our favorite audio book in an idyllic setting: on the green grass with mountains in the distance, the sound of the river behind us and the sun setting in the west. Also, good news came in from our friend Proshat in Tehran: our Turkmen visa application was approved! She actually arranged a taxi driver with our passport copies to go in person to the embassy, as they wouldn't answer any calls.
