As the sun woke, so did we. We soon noticed that the edge of the salt lake was within walking distance, and started our barefeet hike. About two hours later Yuri, Stef and Anton returned with sore soles and a freshly caught lizard to basecamp. Then, while stef and Mr. K went to get the van, the rest of us kissed our reptile prince goodbye and packed up our business.
our van became a sailship on a salty sea of sand as we each hung from different parts and cruised the desert waves. "DUNES AHEAD!" Oli shouted from the rooftop crow's nest and captain Karimi threw out the anchor.
panting heavily we reaches the top of a huge sandhill that marked the end of the plains and the beginning of the desert dunes. we played in our endless sandbox until our ears were filled with sand while Anton became a black dot in the distance as he padded through the hot desert.
After one last collective downhill off the sandy hills we went back the way we came. It was yuri who spotted a dromedary hump at the distant desert horizon. We prepared our lasso and walked in their direction, and saw them do the same. They seemed just as excited to discover wild humans as we were to find dromedaries. When we reached them and exhanged our bread for their milk they introduced their calves to us. We decided to try and mount them. They stayed very impassive and after a small fotoshoot we got Back in Mr. K's taxivan and set course for Tehran to enjoy a sniper icecream dinner at the hostel.
