On the 16th of February a rare occurrence took place: Anton was the first to be awake and the sun managed to pierce the thick layer of Tehrani Smog. Before the next crew member could open his eyes, an over easy baked vegetable omelet was presented on the sleeping carpet.
It had been a long time since we could relax in the sun wearing nothing but a shirt, so we decided it was time for a maintenance. We first spent some time trying to construct an Eiffel tower from toothpicks and carrots, but our bikes needed attention more urgently.
That evening we braved the traffic once more to reach our new hosts, where we savored a delightful Iraqi red beet soup. The young couple proudly showed us their professionally directed wedding-video, giving us a deeper insight into the private life of Persian families. The more people invite us into their homes, the more the conservative veil is lifted showing a modern set of minds.
