With tears of joy we headed towards the beautiful Plitvice waterfalls, but is was only 14 km until we got distracted and washed off the sweat in the town of Slunj. With the sound of the waterfall in the background, we had as much fun as a bear in a beehive trying out the diving boards and practicing our back flips. When our body temperatures dropped down to an acceptable level, we found the focus to start cycling again. As the locals saw us standing on our pedals leaving a trail of sweat behind, they gave us thumbs up and honked their horns in encouragement. As is the case after every uphill, the reward came. We picked the best spot available on the edge off the staggering high cliffs, knowing that the 'bear territory' signs meant we were in for a real treat of nature. Because if bears like it, it must be good (E.g. honey).
