Knowing the next stage would be the hardest so far, Yuri decided to give his overworked knee some more rest and took a train towards Marburg. Meanwhile Oli, Anton and Stef pushed their heavy loads up the steepest hill so far. Once we crossed the summit, we raced down at a staggering speed of 68 km/h. Enjoying the German road quality we completed our 85 km day on a balanced diet of 2 apples and a banana. Halfway we took a refreshing dive in the Aartal lake to cool off.
While approaching Marburg, we called Yuri, who was at a festival hanging out with a student fraternity. They had a room for us to stay in and some cold beers ready. This good news gave us the extra boost to get to our destination. Upon arrival the biker boys got challenged to a beer estafette which they easily won - thirsty as they were. In our new accommodations we had everything we could dream of: showers, bunk beds, private kitchen, a washer and dryer plus a fridge full of liquid gold.
We all wanted to go to the festival but the cramps in our thighs prohibited us to do so.
