5:30 AM - We were woken up by load grunting of wild boars outside our tent. Because the boars had never seen a Silk Road Cycler in real life, Stef & Oli very carefully went outside to let them catch a glimpse of these wild animals. (Read twice if you didn't get it)
However, the boars were long gone so they decided to repair the broken chain on one of the bikes and prepared breakfast for the 4 of us. Over breakfast we discussed how to let Yuri's knee fully recover. Listening to the doctor's advice, Yuri took the train towards Gera in an attempt to have 5 days of rest. In reality, Yuri's absence gave us the power to complete this journey in only 3 days.
We passed the 500 km mark in Alsfeld, where Oli's chain broke again, so we replaced it with a brand new one. Arriving in Bad Hersfeld, we got a surprise visit by Matti, Vinny and Yanni, 3 friends of Yuri. Apparently, they easily tracked us down via our website, using our GPS tracker device.
They treated us to German beer and sausages which was very welcome and before we went to sleep, we called Yuri (all 6 of us), to hear about his life as a lonesome cowboy.
